L.J. Bothell’s Teaching Work

I have been teaching at the community college level for over ten years. During this time, I have taught in person, hybrid combo in-person and online, and fully online. Courses include:

Shoreline Community College: Career Education Options (CEO), MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, Computer Technology Essentials, Keyboarding, Ten Key Mastery, Google Suite.

Seattle Central College: Web Authoring/HTML I & II, Information Computer Concepts, Web Career Strategies (portfolio), Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, MS Access, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Office Overview.

Tools

I have become familiar with / used several tools, including self-designed/coded web pages, Blackboard, Moodle, and my personal favorite CANVAS.

With CANVAS (or any Learning Management tool I get to work with), I focus on a streamlined layout, simple navigation choices, and plenty of organized pertinent information. Regardless of whether I teach in person or fully online, I work to provide all possible content needed for my courses online so students can access it anywhere. I tend to include:

  • School resource information for students,
  • Course tools and demos resource links,
  • A blog-style announcement page,
  • Clearly organized modules for weekly ‘lectures’ and assignments,
  • A Discusson Board, and
  • Grades location.
