I have been teaching since January 2009. I teach/have taught web design, web career strategies, Microsoft Office applications, Adobe design/image programs, surveys of computing technology, career skills, high-school student restarts, and more. I teach in-person, hybrid courses, and fully online.
My responsibility is to put you, my students, first. I want to provide the best and most useful information I can for you, and to share my expertise and enthusiasm. I also am responsible for representing the school(s) I teach at so that we can give you effective and reliable education outcomes, and so that we can do the best we can to meet/exceed the goals and requirements of college-level education and training.
Real-World Work
Before teaching, I worked for many years as a permanent employee, a short-term temp, a contractor, and a consultant/freelancer in several industries. I have been in salaried and hourly jobs, in which I gained design, training, communications, administrative, and clerical experience. Please check out my resume link to the right!
Education
I have also earned a Master’s in Education / Learning / Technology, a BA in Liberal Arts/History, an AAS in Graphic Design, and 2 Certificates (Web Design and Web Development), so I have been a student several times. As a result, I teach from a student-centered perspective and with an eye to practical uses of information in the always volatile job market. I understand the unconventional complexities of student life, and I also understand the student responsibilities needed to accomplish academic/training goals.
Teaching
I’ve taught with both Seattle Central College in Seattle, and Shoreline Community College in Seattle/Shoreline. I have taught web design, Adobe design programs, Microsoft office suite applications, business technology concepts, and more. While teaching at Shoreline Community College, I re-developed the BUSTC 109 course for Career Education Options (CEO) students who had not completed high school, so they could reintegrate with academics and new career-related information and skills. I developed a new MS Outlook course, outcomes, and curriculum. I developed proposals, with course outcomes and curriculum information, for several micro courses in Microsoft Office programs and in business/web technology needs; four of these courses have been / are being offered in 2020. I have also developed several continuing education courses at Shoreline Community College which are being offered in Summer 2020.
