Assignment #6: Master slides/Themes

REQUIREMENTS

Summary
I’ll be grading your work based on what you upload to the Assignment 6 section of the StudioBast E-Learning tool. Name the file exactly like I require or you will lose points. DO NOT email your assignment to me - I will ignore it and you will get a ZERO.

This assignment will focus on Master slides and Theming.

Format five (5) slides in PowerPoint 2010/2007 using the text I provide in the Original Text link. Format the slide to look like the Required Outcome below. Based on Chapter 13. DUE Sunday, November 18. 15 points.

To Do

Download the Original Text, and save it as a new file called assign6firstinitiallastname.pptx in your USB Flash drive's MIC104t/Assignments folder. Example: assign06lbothell.pptx.

Open the link for the Required Outcome so you can see the specific format I want you to accomplish. Use this Required Outcome example to guide you in doing the following tasks:

  • The file will open with 5 basic slides. Do NOT change the slide layouts.
  • Type the assignment info and your OWN name like in the Required Outcome.
  • Choose the Newsprint slideshow theme. NOTE: This does have a very subtle background gradient in the background, which you will see in the Required Outcome but might not see as well on your computer screen.
  • Choose and apply a different built-in color theme - whichever one you want.
  • Choose and apply a different font theme - whichever one you want.
  • Choose and apply the Concourse effect theme.
  • Choose and apply a slide transition to all 5 slides - whichever one you want.
  • Change the duration of the transition to 1:30. Make sure that this duration change is Applied to All.
  • Use the View tab to enter the Slide Master view.
  • In the Slide Master view, click on the 2nd slide in the left-side panel - this is smaller than the first slide. In this slide, click on the large background rectangle, and resize from the bottom so that it ends above the first line of the title, instead of behind the title. See the example in the Required Outcome.
  • In the Slide Master view, select the large title font on the 2nd slide and bold it.
  • In the Slide Master view, while still on the 2nd slide, insert clipart - search illustrations and Office.Com content for Palette, and choose the one you see in the Required Outcome. Then move it to the same location on the slide.
  • In the Slide Master view, click on the 7th slide in the left-hand panel - the slide that looks mostly blank except for title text. This is the Title Only layout slide. On that slide, insert the same Palette clipart again, and then move it and resize it like you see in the Required Outcome.
  • In the Slide Master view, click on the 1st slide in the left-hand panel - the slide at the top that looks bigger than the others. This is the Newsprint Slide Master layout slide. On that slide, right-click on the first bulleted sentence, then choose Bullets, and the open circle bullet style.
  • In the Slide Master view, go to the Insert Tab. Click on Header & Footer, and make sure you are on the Slide tab of the pop-up dialog box. Then, click the checkbox next to the word Slide, click next to "Don't Show on Title Slide", and click Apply to All.
  • In the Slide Master view, go to the Insert Tab. Click on Header & Footer, and make sure you are on the Slide tab of the pop-up dialog box. Then, click the checkbox next to the word Footer, and type your name in the little box below. Click Apply to All.
  • Go to the View Ribbon tab, and select Normal View. You should see the real slideshow, not the master slides.
  • Do a spell-check on the slide show, and catch/correct the 3 spelling errors I have.
  • Save your document frequently.

When you are finished, log in to the StudioBast E-Learning tool, and in your MIC104t class, click the link for Assignment 6. At the Upload slide, upload your assignment file. Verify that the correct file appears after you finish uploading.

Tips

  • Use your book as a refresher.

  • Finish and upload by 8:00pm on Sunday evening so you are completely on time!!
