Effects

  • Alter an object's appearance but not path
  • Most Illustrator effects are vector
  • Non-vector: drop shadow, inner and outer glows, feather, Photoshop
  • Can target a layer, sub layer, or an object
  • Has a gallery

 

Filters

  • Alter an object path
  • Has a gallery too
  • Acts like Photoshop filters, with sketching, etc.

 

Play

  • Pathfinder effects: Don't actually affect the path but appear to

Photoshop Effects/filters

  • Need to rasterize Illustrator vector object to use

Appearance and Graphic Styles

Themes (for banner/button concepts)

  • Think consistency in color, fonts, layout
  • Aim for a put-together look

Banner/Buttons

  • Logotype cand be added for site identification
  • Buttons can be stand-alone or basic and rollover
