HowTo

Organize your WEB110 files - USB flash drive

We are using the same directory structure - for everyone in class. I will be using a Pass/Fail 15-point quiz to make sure you follow my instructions.

This is how your USB directory needs to be organized - ALL small letters and no spaces in file, folder, and image names:

Create a new folder and name it SCHOOL. This is where all your different class folders will go, as well as any shortcuts to SCCC programs you make.

Inside SCHOOL, create another new folder and call it web110. This is where all your WEB110 classwork goes. NOTE that this web110 folder, and ALL the folders below, use ONLY small letters, no spaces, no dashes, and no underlines.

Inside the web110 (where your a1 Assignment #1 index.html file will be) also make these sub folders and their image sub folders:

     a2

          images

     a3

     a4

     a5

*Note: Assignment 1 will be a portal page in your web110 folder linking to your other classwork, so no a1 folder is needed. Assignment 8 will be a 2-page contact form in your web110 folder.

When you upload to your free Edison webhost server space, for the first timeyou will upload all of these directories by dragging the whole file named web110 over into the web server space. After that, you will simple replace Edison located folders and files with more recent once from your local computer, as needed.

Also, in your free Edison web space, you will also delete the Edison index.php file, and keep the cgibin file folder you see there.

Depending on the web server, you may do this into the top level, like in Edison, or have to double-click down one level in some other webhost.
